MORRELL GALLERY

Atlanta, GA

Fall 2015

Morrell Gallery takes advantage of the its location between the heavily trafficked North Avenue to the open space of Central Park, using the natural transition to organize program. An accessible roof garden overlooks a reflecting pond with views of the Atlanta skyline. The interior courtyard is formed by the fracturing of the gift shop, the auditorium, and the café. The roof garden and courtyard offer a quiet retreat from the urban rush.

The walkway below the roof garden leads to the main building, which includes the lobby, galleries and offices. The galleries are split into two levels, with large ramps creating a long procession through the exhibits.  These self-contained, reflective spaces complete the pilgrimage from the bustle of North Ave.
